Security has been tightened in Andhra Pradesh's border district of Chittoor following the serial blasts in Bangalore on Friday.

Security has been tightened in Andhra Pradesh's border district of Chittoor following the serial blasts in Bangalore on Friday.
Forces have been rushed to vital areas in the district, including the temples of Kanipakkam, Srikalahasti, Narayanavanam, Nagalapuram, Srinivasamangapuram besides the temples of Tirumala, Tiruchanoor and Govindarajaswamy in Tirupati.

As there are always a large number of pilgrims - about 2 lakh due to proximity to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka borders - in Chittoor district due to the large number of temples in the region, district police are taking no chances.
TTD chief vigilance and security officer B V Ramana Kumar said vigilance checks have been intensified near Alipiri and GNC tollgates. Security personnel have been directed to check vehicles and baggage thoroughly and instructions have also been issued to temple security staff to check every pilgrim.
