Talking to TOI, Sapaks president Hiralal Trivedi said all party candidates have a very good understanding of the issues and been asked to “prepare for the polls”.

“We would have declared their names, but we are withholding it deliberately,” he said. He said his party would accept applications from candidates till October 23, but would not declare their names.

Fearing that the BJP or Congress might “lure” their candidates. “Or the BJP government may trouble them by fabricating false cases against them,” he said.

“We will start announcing their names only after November 1,” he said.

Trivedi also said, “All the candidates, whose names have been finalized, are working hard at ground-level to achieve favourable results in the polls,” he said.

Trivedi said that a week-long ‘maha-andolan’ (mega stir) would be launched from October 24 to press for their demand of rollback of the atrocity act amendment.

After months of demonstrations over reservation and atrocity act amendment, the Sapaks had on October 3 launched a political party. Most office-bearers of the party, including Trivedi, are retired bureaucrats.
