Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya resigns from post of national general secretary

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party (SP) MLC Swami Prasad Maurya on Tuesday resigned from his post as party's national general secretary.

In his resignation letter to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Swami Prasad Maurya said he will continue to work to strengthen the party without any post.

Maurya said he was unhappy over how his recent statements on certain issues were described by senior leaders as his "personal views" and his initiative to take out a rath yatra to mobilise support for the caste census was overlooked.
