Abu Salem has confessed to his role in the murder of Ajit Dewani, former secretary to actor Manisha Koirala.
MUMBAI: Extradited gangster Abu Salem has reportedly confessed to his role in the murder of Ajit Dewani, former secretary to Bollywood actor Manisha Koirala, by making a statement before a magistrate. Salem confessed before crime branch sleuths and a magistrate on February 10 by issuing a statement, which will now be sent to the MCOCA court in a sealed cover on February 13, sources said.
However, deputy commissioner of police (detection) D D Kamalakar said he was unaware about the confession. Kamalakar said, "I don't know what he has said before the magistrate. I can just say that we have completed our investigation in this case." Dewani was murdered in 2002, allegedly on instructions from Salem. The alleged killers were arrested and are facing trial. Eleven witnesses have already deposed in the case. This would be the third case in which Salem has confessed his role, the first being the 1993 bomb blast case and the second, builder Pradeep Jain's murder case.
