NEW DELHI: The RSS on Thursday agreed to mediate between government and VHP to end the ongoing impasse in Ayodhya. This was decided at a meeting RSS leaders had with the Prime Minister.

new delhi: the rss on thursday agreed to mediate between government and vhp to end the ongoing impasse in ayodhya. this was decided at a meeting rss leaders had with the prime minister. rss leader madan das said the prime minister has assured the rss that the government was trying to ensure that the people''s aspirations are fulfilled in a peaceful manner. das was briefing reporters after meeting the prime minister on thursday evening. the government, according to das, assured the rss that it would find a solution to this crisis, despite legal compulsions. rss leaders had earlier met the prime minister and the bjp top brass at the pm''s residence to discuss the volatile situation in gujarat and ayodhya. das said that the sangh, on its part, was ready to help in any way possible to find a solution to this crisis. those present at the meeting included bjp president jana krishnamurthy, home minister l k advani, besides rss leaders h v sheshadri, mohan rao bhagwat and madan das. "the vhp programme has been largely misunderstood. we hope that the issue can be sorted out through talks", das added.
