NEW DELHI: As Assembly elections in Bihar kicked off with first phase of voting on Thursday, former chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav called for a “young government” led by his son Tejashwi Yadav, while his wife Rabri Devi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP over law and order.“The roti should keep being turned on the tawa, otherwise it will burn,” said Lalu, sharing a photo on X with Tejashwi after casting his vote. "Twenty years is too long! Now, for the young government and the new Bihar, a Tejashwi government is absolutely essential," further said Lalu.

Lalu's wife, also a former cheif minister, Rabri Devi also hit out at Prime Minister Modi over law and order issues, mouting her "katta attack" and alleging that BJP members were responsible for incidents of violence. “Narendra Modi ji makes statements on katta (guns) but it is the people of his party who fire bullets, they abduct, fire bullets and kill people. Modi ji doesn’t remember all that,” she said.
Rabri Devi also voiced support for her sons, even though they are at odds, fighting from different sides. "My best wishes to both my sons. Tej Pratap is contesting on his own. I am their mother. Good luck to both of them," she said.First phase of Bihar elections bgean on Thursday morning with 121 seats up for grabs. The second phase is scheduled for November 11 with results on November 14.
