They are seeking a further investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into their daughter's homicidal death, aiming to recover the alleged involvement of individuals beyond the primary accused, Sanjay Roy.

Senior Advocate Karuna Nundi represented the victim's parents, while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared on behalf of the CBI.

Victim’s father said, "We have filed a case in the HC and submitted 54 questions. It is with the court to bring us those answers so that my daughter gets justice... Many men are involved in my daughter's rape and murder. And there are many hands involved in evidence tampering. West Bengal CM has lead the process of evidence tampering. Police had brought dog squads for investigation, but we have received no report of that so far... We have faith in the courts and the courts are working fairly, as per our wishes..."

Meanwhile, earlier in January, a Kolkata court had sentenced Sanjay Roy to life imprisonment after he was convicted of rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
