"The central and state governments need to work towards making the country 'vishwa guru' (global leaders) but for this it is also necessary that on this occasion every year they should do an honest self evaluation and tell the people how they have fulfilled promises and resolves in one year and give a development report," she said in a party release. This will not only instill confidence and energy among the people but would also ensure that Republic Day functions do not remain mere rituals, she said.
BSP president Mayawati on Thursday said the Centre and state governments should use the occasion of Republic Day every year to honestly evaluate and issue a development report on the promises fulfilled by them so as to instill confidence among the people. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also underlined the need for continued efforts to ensure development of the country and its people in accordance with the humanitarian values of the Constitution given by BR Ambedkar. The ministry of home affairs (MHA)'s tableau at the 74th Republic Day parade showcased the theme 'Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB): Resolve @75-Drug Free India', reflecting the resolve to make India drug-free. The front part of the tableau depicted a large humanoid sculpture suppressing the ill effects of drugs. It is presented in the form of a cactus garden, with a posture of crossed arms and a head swaying to the right, giving a strong message against drugs. The large-sized hands in the rear part of the tableau represent citizens of India from all castes religions and regions spreading the vision of 'Nasha Mukt Bharat. On the sides of the tableau, people belonging to different parts of India are shown taking pledge to fight drugs with the motto, "Together we can do it". At the lower part of the tableau, two hands joining in the form of a high contour, represent the participation, dedication, and solidarity of all stakeholders against drugs.

A knowledge tree on the rear portion of the tableau depicted the spread of knowledge and wisdom from teachers to tribal students who come to EMRSs from the remotest hinterlands. The tree also reflected the spirit of conservation of tribal culture and heritage.
An open book with an archetype pen in the shape of Eklavya's bow and arrow reflected the unwavering focus of students at Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). It showed that bow and arrow protected and empowered tribal people in the past, and now, education is the tool to empower them.
The tribal affairs ministry's tableau during the Republic Day parade depicted the government's efforts to provide quality education to Scheduled Tribes (ST) students in remote tribal areas through the Eklavya Model Residential Schools. A girl on the frontage signified equality in educational opportunities provided at the residential schools. A globe in her hand symbolised her will to conquer the world with the power of knowledge.

The tableau depicts Lord Ram and Goddess Sita being welcomed by the people of Ayodhya on their return from exile, and the Deepotsav celebrations in the temple town. "The side panels of the tableau depict 'Ram Ki Paidi' on the banks of the Saryu river in Ayodhya and a big 'Deepotsav Dwar' has been erected. It also has a sculpture of Maha Rishi Vasishtha," an Uttar Pradesh government official said.A grand Ram temple is currently under construction in Ayodhya and massive scale road-widening and other projects are also being undertaken in the Uttar Pradesh town.
