NEW DELHI: A blast in a car near Red Fort Metro Station has put has been put on alert. Apart from Delhi, several other states including Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra authorities have also given directives to increase security and remain on alert.
Several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Kerala, and Chandigarh, have been placed on high alert following the blast, with authorities tightening security and intensifying checks across sensitive areas.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF), in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP), has placed all Delhi-NCR railway stations on high alert following the Red Fort blast that killed eight people and injured several others.
Northern Railway, quoted by PTI, said security at major stations, including New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Ghaziabad, has been strengthened. RPF personnel are deployed at entry and exit gates, platforms, and other key points, with multiple dog squads checking passengers and luggage. CCTV surveillance and monitoring of suspicious individuals have also been intensified.
Authorities urged passengers to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel.
Additionally, according to a statement from CISF, cited by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has issued a high alert across the country — including airports, Delhi Metro, heritage sites, government buildings and other key installations under its security cover. " "In the wake of the explosion in a vehicle near Red Fort Metro station, installations secured by CISF in the National Capital Region (NCR) including Delhi Metro, Red Fort, Government Buildings and IGI Airport have been placed on high alert. The situation is being constantly monitored and personnel are on standby," it further said on X.
"The shops in Chandni Chowk will be closed on Tuesday as there is fear among traders after the blast," said Sanjay Bhargaw, president of the Chandni Chowk Traders Association.
Uttar PradeshChief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the entire police force to stay on high alert and carry out intensive checking and security arrangements across the state. Additionally, speaking to ANI, Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash said, "DGP has issued instructions to all senior officials in Uttar Pradesh to increase security at sensitive religious sites, sensitive districts, and border areas. All security agencies have also been alerted. Police in all districts of Uttar Pradesh have been put on alert. An order was issued from Lucknow to increase patrols and checks in sensitive areas." Additionally, Police could be seen patrolling potentially crowded areas, such as the market area of Noida sector-18.
MaharashtraSecurity agencies have increased vigilance in major cities, including Mumbai, with heightened monitoring at transport hubs and public areas. Following the recovery of around 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate in Haryana’s Faridabad, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis convened a meeting with senior police officials at his residence, Varsha, on Monday to review the state’s security preparedness. According to sources, Fadnavis reiterated his directive for heightened vigilance in the wake of the Delhi blast, instructing all law enforcement and intelligence agencies to stay on high alert.
BiharThe state is on high alert, with teams conducting checks and maintaining strict surveillance.
HaryanaAn alert has been issued, and district magistrates have been instructed to strengthen security and monitoring.
RajasthanRajasthan Police have sounded a statewide alert to maintain heightened vigilance following the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma instructed maximum police deployment at railway stations, bus stands, shopping malls, religious sites, and other high-footfall areas, issuing an advisory to all DCPs and SPs. Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) have also been asked to remain on high alert. Additionally, social media monitoring teams have been instructed to remain vigilant and immediately counter any misleading or false information. All Range IGPs and police commissioners have been ordered to ensure strict compliance with these directives.
Security has also been tightened in Jaiselmer city.
KeralaPolice Chief Ravada Azad Chandrasekhar has directed officials to enhance security measures across the state.
ChandigarhSecurity has been tightened, with police on high alert and patrolling intensified.
GujaratIn the wake of a car explosion in Delhi that killed at least eight people on Monday evening, Gujarat DGP has instructed all police units across the state to remain vigilant and increase patrolling as a precautionary measure, officials said.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and teams from Delhi Police, including the Special Cell, are investigating. NIA and NSG are also on site. Eyewitnesses reported a powerful explosion and scenes of chaos.
