Ratnagiri - Sindhudurg election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Narayan Tatu Rane wins

NEW DELHI: Narayan Tatu Rane, a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg Lok Sabha seat after securing 448514 votes.

The constituency voted in the third phase of the 2024 Indian general election on May 7, with a voter turnout of 62.52%. The constituency comprises six Assembly segments: Ratnagiri City, Ratnagiri, Rajapur, Malshiras, Kankavali, and Kudal.

For the 2024 elections, the main candidates were Vinayak Bhaurao Raut from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) of the INDIA alliance and Narayan Tatu Rane from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Other candidates include Shakil Sawant (Independent), Suresh Govindrao Shinde (Sainik Samaj Party), among others.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Vinayak Raut from the Shiv Sena (SHS) won the seat with a margin of 177,387 votes. He defeated Nilesh Narayan Rane from the Maharashtra Swabhimaan Paksh (MSHP), who garnered 278,626 votes.

In the 2014 elections, Vinayak Bhaurao Raut from SHS also won the seat, defeating Nilesh Narayan Rane from INC by a margin of 149,901 votes.

Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg is a general constituency with a total of 1,200,000 registered voters as of 2019. The voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was 63.55%. According to the 2011 Census, the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg parliamentary seat has approximately 81,256 SC voters, accounting for about 5.4% of the electorate. The number of ST voters is around 9,028, which is about 0.6%. An analysis of the voter list indicates there are approximately 91,860 Muslim voters, making up about 6.1% of the total electorate.

The constituency holds importance as it has a rich history of sacrifice, with 47 lives lost in the First World War and participation in various military operations. The election in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, along with 96 other constituencies, will be a key factor in determining the outcome of the 2024 general election in Maharashtra.
