Rajiv Mehrishi is new CAG

NEW DELHI: Former home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi took over as the new

comptroller and auditor general

(

CAG

) on Monday.

President Ram Nath Kovind administered him the oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. A 1978 batch (retd) IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Mehrishi will have a three year term till August 7, 2020. He succeeds Shashi Kant Sharma who retired on Sunday.

Mehrishi holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (UK) and has held several posts in both Rajasthan and at the

Centre

.

He has been chief secretary of Rajasthan and has worked at the Centre as economic affairs secretary; secretary in departments of chemicals and fertilisers, and Overseas Indian Affairs.
