Rajat Sharma, Prasoon in NMML society, Congmen out
NEW DELHI: The Centre has reconstituted the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library society by inducting senior TV journalist Rajat Sharma and advertising professional Prasoon Joshi as members and dropping Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge,
“The central government has reconstituted the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) Society under rule 3 of the memorandum of association and rules and regulations of NMML society with Modi as president and Rajnath Singh as vice-president of the society,” an order said.
Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ramesh Pokhriyal, Prakash Javadekar, V Muraleedharan and Prahlad Singh Patel, ICCR chairman Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Prasar Bharati chairman A Surya Prakash, besides secretaries of expenditure, culture and housing & urban affairs, are its members. As per the order, other members include academic and author Anirban Ganguly, IGNCA member-secretary Sachchidanand Joshi, academic Kapil Kapoor, Vedic and Buddhist scholar Lokesh Chandra and other academics like Makarand Paranjape, Kishor Makwana, Kamlesh Joshipura and Rizwan Kadri. Slamming reconstitution of NMML society, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “In new society, all independent-minded scholars and liberal voices have been dropped. It is not surprising given that Modi-Amit Shah are hellbent on destroying NMML”.

. Congress’ representation in the new society would be restricted to ex-officio membership of the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund.
