Congress President Election: Gehlot camp brands Pilot traitor, won’t let him be CM

After over an hour-long meeting with Sonia Gandhi at her residence in Delhi, Ashok Gehlot said that he will not contest the Congress presidential poll and the issue of Rajasthan chief ministership will be decided by her. Meanwhile, former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday night and said he discussed the events in the state in detail and expressed his sentiments on the situation. Rajasthan health minister Parsadi Lal Meena had said on Wednesday that MLAs who stayed with Congress during Sachin Pilot's revolt against CM Ashok Gehlot wouldn't accept anyone from that camp. Pilot, along with 18 MLAs, had mounted a challenge to the CM's leadership in July 2020.

He cited "moral responsibility" for the MLAs' boycott of the meeting called last Sunday in Jaipur as the reason for opting out.
