Rajasthan Exit Polls 2023 Live Updates: Congress & BJP intensify backchannel talks to win over Independents, rebels

The polling for 199 out of 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan concluded in a single phase on November 25. Now all are waiting for December 3 when votes would be counted. Among these, 25 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste, 34 for the Scheduled Tribe, and 141 for the General category. Approximately 5.3 crore people were eligible to vote. Rajasthan saw a total voter turnout of 75%. Majority of the polling process went smoothly except for a few incidents of fighting or violence. Rajasthan has seen a switch between Congress and BJP since 1998 as both parties remain confident in their win with Congress’ Ashok Gehlot confident in his power and his 'seven guarantees' while BJP depends on PM Narendra Modi and his guarantees to gain the trust of the voters.In the Rajasthan assembly elections, Sardarpura, Tonk, Jhalarapatan, Nathdwara, Jhunjhunu, Jhotwara, Kota North, and Churu are seen as pivotal battlegrounds, serving as focal points for intense political maneuvering and strategic contests, with Sardarpura associated with CM Ashok Gehlot. "Counting for the 199 Assembly constituencies will begin at 8 am on 3rd December...Postal ballots will be counted first; these are around 5 lakhs in number. Round-wise counting of EVMs will begin at 8.30 am...As far as security is concerned, three-tier cordon-off has been done - 40 CAPF companies have been deployed across the state. In the 2018 election, from Jaipur to Dholpur and Bharatpur, they (Congress) only won only one seat of Dholpur and now I contested election from that region and out of 28 seats, 20-22 seats will be of BJP including Karauli, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, some areas of Alwar and Bharatpur...I believe that around 95% of (Congress) Ministers will be defeated. If BJP gets 20-22 seats out of 28 in the toughest area, then the picture is clear that no wonder BJP may reach 120 or more than 130 seats

Rajasthan Exit Poll: Ashok Gehlot cites 3 reasons to retain power in Rajasthan

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said he was confident of a Congress win in assembly polls and added that the BJP would not form the government in any of the five states where elections are being held. "Congress government will be formed in Rajasthan and in all five states, I feel that BJP is not going to form the government. Exit polls may say something, surveys might suggest something, but based on the feedback of people in the cities and villages, I feel that our government should come," Gehlot told reporters.

Rajasthan Exit Poll: Congress & BJP intensify backchannel talks to win over Independents, rebels

After the exit polls predicted a very close fight in Rajasthan, both the BJP and the Congress are bracing up for last-minute manoeuvring. While Congress is contacting the winnable Independents in case the party falls short of the magic number of 100, BJP has directed all the MLAs to collect their certificates and reach Jaipur by Monday. BJP is also in touch with party rebels in case the party needs their support to cross the halfway mark.

According to the poll of polls, the BJP is predicted to win 104 out of the 199 seats that went to polls in Rajasthan, clearing the 100-seat magic mark. Voting wasn't held in one constituency due to the death of a Congress candidate.

Rajasthan Exit Poll 2023: Polling in 199 constituencies out of 200

The polling was done on November 25 in a single phase. Among the 200 seats, 25 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste, 34 for the Scheduled Tribe, and 141 for the General category. Approximately 5.3 crore people were eligible to vote.The polling in Karanpur constituency of Sriganganagar district was postponed due to the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. The EC will announce a separate date for polling in that constituency.
