LUCKNOW: From the warm confines of a VIP guest house to the coarse charpoy of a Dalit hamlet, Rahul Gandhi covered the distance on the night of the Republic Day.
The Amethi MP also had dinner with Dalit villagers, much to the delight of his hosts at the Pure Jawaharpur hamlet in Bahadurpur block. He was returning to Munshiganj after a visit to Amethi.
Rahul and his staff went to the house of Ram Sahai Kori where a meeting of 20-odd self-help group members was on.
Soon, the entire hamlet was at Kori's house.
The MP asked villagers many questions, including the success of self-help groups, launched at the behest of his mother after getting elected from the constituency in 1999.
Rahul conceded to the villagers request for dinner and later, even agreed to stay there overnight. Rahul was up at 6.30 am on Sunday for returning to the guest house.
