Punjab govt cell to help youths get jobs abroad

Punjab govt cell to help youths get jobs abroad
CHANDIGARH: Dumping its own plan to hire a private firm to help unemployed youths find jobs in foreign countries, the Punjab government has decided to directly play the role of facilitator by setting up its own placement cell.
The government dropped the plan fearing that a private firm might misuse the authority. The move has further delayed implementation of the plan the government was planning to roll out by mid-2019 to save youths from unscrupulous travel agents.
The firm was to assist 5,000 youths to move overseas annually.
