Punjab and Haryana high court relief for IIM-Rohtak director Dheeraj Sharma

CHANDIGARH: In a breather for IIM-Rohtak director Dheeraj Sharma, Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday put on hold decisions taken by the board of governors against him for alleged financial irregularities at the institute.

Sharma had challenged central govt's March 5 order of inquiry and an order dated March 13 asking the IIM-Rohtak board to send him on long leave or to suspend him and keep him out of the campus till the inquiry was concluded.

As ASG Satya Pal Jain, who was tied up with another matter before a full bench, sought more time to conclude his arguments, HC said noticing the contention and since a meeting of the board of governors "is scheduled today at 1.30 pm", let the meeting be held but a decision, if any, be kept in abeyance till the next date of hearing.

The court scheduled the next hearing for April 2.
