NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday presented RuPay card to Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth during a meeting wherein both leaders discussed bilateral ties.
President Murmu is currently on a three-day state visit to Mauritius and will be the chief guest at the country's National Day celebrations today.
Sharing details of Murmu's meeting with Jugnauth on X, MEA stated, "Taking India-Mauritius partnership to new heights! President Droupadi Murmu @rashtrapatibhvn and PM @KumarJugnauth of Mauritius held a tète-à-tète meeting."
"The two leaders took stock of bilateral ties and discussed ways to impart further momentum to the historic & deep-rooted India-Mauritius partnership," it said.
The MEA also posted pictures of the meeting, showcasing the warmth and camaraderie between President Murmu and Prime Minister Jugnauth.
During her visit, President Murmu also took part in a meeting with her Mauritian counterpart Prithvirajsing Roopun. The two leaders had comprehensive discussions on various aspects of India-Mauritius bilateral relationship. President Murmu also presented a RuPay card to President Roopun.
Prime Minister Jugnauth welcomed President Murmu to Mauritius with full state honors, emphasizing the close ties between the two nations. The National Day celebrations will see the participation of the Indian Navy, with two ships, INS Tir and CGS Sarathi, joining the event.
President Murmu's schedule also includes meetings with the Speaker of the Mauritius National Assembly, the Chief Justice of the Mauritian Supreme Court, and other important Mauritian leaders. Additionally, Murmu and the Mauritius PM will jointly inaugurate 14 India-assisted projects that highlight the robust development partnership between the two countries.
