DEHRADUN: The woman who had accused Congress leader Pradeep Sangwan of
rape was sent to 14-days judicial custody by a court in Dehradun on Wednesday. The woman and her brother, who was also sent to custody, were earlier booked for extortion. Meanwhile, the Congress leader continued to be on the run.
The police revealed the involvement of another person, Ajay, a relative of Sangwan, in the case.
The authorities are looking out for Sangwan across Haryana and other areas.
“We will file an application for bail by Thursday. Even though my client is innocent, she will abide by the law,” said Amit Agarwal, the survivor’s lawyer.
“I just want my sister to be free from the mental harassment that she has been facing. We are innocent and are being framed because Sangwan is a high profile person,” the survivor’s brother said.
