During his stay, Modi will meet with President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, security, technology, and people-to-people ties. He will also address business leaders in Limassol, Cyprus’s commercial hub.
“Cyprus is a close friend and a key partner in the Mediterranean region and the European Union,” Modi said in a statement before his departure from New Delhi. “This visit is an opportunity to build on our historical connections and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.”
This visit marks the first stop on Modi’s three-nation tour, which includes attending the G7 Summit in Canada, hosted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and an official visit to Croatia.
In Canada, Modi is expected to engage with global leaders on issues including counterterrorism, thanking partner nations for their support in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism.
Following the G7 Summit, Modi will visit Croatia to hold talks with President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, further strengthening India’s diplomatic ties in Europe.
Modi’s trip underscores India’s efforts to deepen its strategic and economic partnerships in the Mediterranean and beyond.
