External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Thursday emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Brunei and Singapore is a significant advancement in India's Act East policy, reflecting a deepening of diplomatic and economic ties with these Southeast Asian nations. "Prime Minister @narendramodi's visit to Brunei and Singapore is a significant step in our Act East policy early in his third term," posted Jaishankar on X.

Shortly after his arrival, he met with Singapore PM Lawrence Wong at the historic Sri Temasek bungalow, the official residence of the Singaporean Prime Minister, for a "private dinner."
This visit, which comes at the invitation of Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, is PM Modi's fifth trip to Singapore, with his last visit taking place in 2018.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday after concluding his visit to Brunei, he was warmly welcomed with dance and music performances by the Indian diaspora. PM Modi also joined the celebrations as he tried his hand at dhol.
