"Despite heavy rains, you have all seen how a large number of people have gathered here. This shows the love people have for PM Modi and BJP. Even in Churachandpur, there was a large gathering. Because of the bad weather, PM Modi went to Churachandpur via road. We have never seen a Prime Minister who has shown such a deep affection for Manipur," he said.

"The land of Manipur is a land of hope and aspiration. Unfortunately, violence had cast its shadow on this beautiful region. A short while ago, I met those affected who are living in relief camps. After meeting them, I can say with confidence that a new dawn of hope and trust is rising in Manipur. For development to take root anywhere, peace is essential. In the past 11 years, many conflicts and disputes in the Northeast have been resolved. People have chosen the path of peace and given priority to development... We are satisfied that recently in the hills and valleys, negotiations have taken place for agreements with different groups. These are part of the efforts of the Government of India in which work is being done to establish peace while giving importance to dialogue, respect, and mutual understanding. I would appeal to all organisations to move forward on the path of peace and fulfil their dreams. I am with you, the Government of India is with the people of Manipur," he said.

“Violence was unfortunate. I spoke to displaced people and can say Manipur is looking towards a new dawn,” he said.

The Government of India is making every possible effort to bring life back on track in Manipur. For families who have lost their homes, our government is helping to build 7,000 new houses," he said.

"We are going to become the world's third-largest economy very soon... There was a time when decisions made in Delhi took decades to reach here. Today, our Churachandpur, our Manipur, are progressing together with the rest of the nation. Just as we announced the construction of pucca houses for the poor across the country, Manipur too has benefited. Nearly 60,000 houses have already been built here, giving thousands of families a life of dignity and security. We have started a plan to build permanent houses for the poor across the country. Thousands of families in Manipur have also benefited from this. In the past years, more than 15 crore countrymen have received the facility of water from taps. In Manipur, until 7-8 years ago, water came through pipes in only 25-30 thousand houses. Today, more than 3.5 lakh houses here are receiving the facility of water from taps," he said.

'We want to make Manipur symbol of peace and prosperity, I am with people of this state,' he added.

"During our government's tenure, rail connectivity is being expanded in Manipur. The Jiribam-Imphal railway line will soon connect the capital Imphal to the national rail network. Rs 22,000 crore is being spent on this. The new Imphal airport, built at a cost of Rs 400 crores, is giving new heights to air connectivity," he said.

"Manipur is a border state, and connectivity here has always been a major challenge. I fully understand the difficulties you have faced due to the lack of good roads. That is why, since 2014, I have focused strongly on continuously improving Manipur’s connectivity, and for this, the Government of India has worked on two levels. First, we increase the budget on road and railways in Manipur. Second, we put efforts to connect villages with roads... In the last few years, Rs 3,700 crores were spent on the National Highways in Manipur. Rs 8,700 crores are being spent for the work on new highways," he said.

"Centre has increased budget allocation for railway, road connectivity projects in Manipur," he further said.

"The name Manipur itself has ‘Mani’, a gem that will enhance the shine of the entire Northeast in the coming times. A while ago, from this very platform, the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs 7,000 crore was laid. These projects will improve the lives of people, especially the tribal communities living in the hills of Manipur. They will provide new facilities in health and education for you all,” he said.

"The land of Manipur is the land of courage and bravery... I want to salute the passion of the people of Manipur. All of you came here despite the heavy rain, I want to thank you for your love. Due to heavy rains, my helicopter could not come, so I decided to come via road. The scenes I saw on the road, I thank the Almighty that my helicopter did not work today. The way I saw the youth and elderly people of Manipur carrying Tiranga in their hands, I can never forget this moment in my life," he said.

Prime Minister lays the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore at Churachandpur. The projects include Manipur Urban Roads, drainage and asset management improvement project worth over Rs 3,600 crore; 5 National Highway projects worth more than Rs 2,500 crore; Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project, Working Women Hostels at 9 locations, among others.

PM Modi heads to Kuki stronghold of Churachandpur from Manipur capital Imphal by road amid heavy rain, PTI reported citing officials.

"I am glad that he has decided after 2 years that it's worth his visiting. He should have visited much long before. It's very unfortunate that he has allowed what is happening there to happen for so long, so many people to get killed and so many people to go through so much strife before he has decided to visit. That has not been the tradition of Prime Ministers in India. Right through, no matter which party they were, wherever there was pain, wherever there was suffering, they would go. That has been the tradition since independence. So, he is fulfilling it after 2 years, I think he should have thought of it before," she said.

"Our economy has seen a growth of 7.8% in the first quarter of 2025-26. It means India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world. We are also seeing the growth of Make in India and exports. During Operation Sindoor, you all saw how our soldiers taught a lesson to those who sponsored terror. The whole nation was filled with a sense of pride about our armed forces. In this operation, Made in India weapons played a significant role in protecting our country. The growth of our economy and manufacturing sector is very important for our national security. Our government is committed to the welfare of every citizen, every family and every region. It is through the empowerment of the people that a developed India will be built. In this journey, I am confident that the people of Mizoram will play a very important role," he said.

"During Congress rule, medicines, insurance policies were heavily taxed; healthcare was expensive, today these are affordable," he said.

"Mizoram is blessed with talented youths. Our work is to empower them. Our government has already started 11 A-Club residential schools here. Work is going to start six more schools. Our Northeast is also becoming a major hub for startups. I'm happy that around 4,500 startups and 25 incubators are operating in the region. Young people of Mizoram are actively joining this movement and creating new opportunities for themselves and others. India is quickly becoming an important hub for global sports," he said.

"This is also creating a sports economy in the country. Mizoram has a wonderful tradition of sports producing many champions in football and all other sports. Our sports policies are benefiting Mizoram as well. Under the Khelo India scheme, we are supporting the creation of modern sports infrastructure. Recently, our government has also come out with a national sports policy, Khelo India Khel Niti. This will open new doors of opportunity for the youth of Mizoram," he added.

"For a long time, some political parties in our country have practised vote bank politics. Their focus was always on places that had more votes and seats. The entire Northeast, including states like Mizoram, suffered greatly because of this attitude. But our approach is very different. Those who were earlier neglected are at the forefront now. Those who were once marginalised are the mainstream now," he said.

"From today, Aizawl will be on India's railway map. A few years ago, I had the opportunity of laying the foundation stone for the Aizawl railway line and today, we proudly dedicate it to the people of the nation. Overcoming many challenges, including difficult terrain, this Bairabi-Sairang railway line has become a reality. The skills of our engineers and the spirit of our workers made this possible. Our hearts have always been directly connected to each other. For the first time, Sairang in Mizoram will be connected directly with Delhi by the Rajdhani Express," he said.

"Whether it is the freedom movement or nation building, the people of Mizoram have always come forward to contribute... Sacrifice and service, courage and compassion, these values are at the centre of Mizo society. Today, Mizoram is playing an important role in India's development journey. This is a historic day for the nation, particularly for the people of Mizoram," he said.

"I am here at Mizoram's Lengpui Airport. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, I am sorry that I am not able to join you at Aizawl, but I can feel your love and affection even from this medium," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore at Aizawl.

He inaugurated the Bairabi-Sairang New Rail line, worth over Rs 8,070 crore, connecting the capital of Mizoram to the Indian Railways network for the first time.

He could not reach Lammual Ground in Aizawl from Lengpui Airport by helicopter due to heavy rain, PTI reported citing officials.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bairabi-Sairang railway line in Mizoram on Saturday, connecting Aizawl with the rest of the country for the first time. During his visit, PM Modi will flag off three trains, including the Sairang-Delhi Rajdhani Express, and unveil multiple projects to enhance highways, sports, and energy infrastructure. He will arrive at Lengpui airport in the morning before heading to Aizawl, where he is scheduled to address a public meeting at Lammual, though the venue could shift due to weather. Security has been tightened across the state ahead of his second visit since 2014.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore, including the Rs 8,070 crore railway line with 48 tunnels and 55 bridges. He will also launch the Rs 500-crore Aizawl Bypass Road, lay the foundation stone for a Khelo India multipurpose indoor hall, and initiate work on an LPG bottling plant at Mualkhang. Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate several schools, with all projects aimed at boosting connectivity, employment, tourism, and overall development in Mizoram under the Act East policy.

"So now it is official. The PM will spend less than 3 hours in Manipur tomorrow. This visit instead of providing a force for peace and harmony is actually going to be a farce," said Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh.

In preparation for PM Modi’s visit to Manipur, Imphal has been decked up with billboards, banners, and a large 20-foot welcome gate near the BJP state headquarters. PM Modi’s trip, his first since ethnic violence erupted over two years ago, will see him unveil projects worth Rs 8,500 crore, including laying foundation stones for Rs 7,300 crore works and inaugurating projects worth Rs 1,200 crore. Billboards highlighting these initiatives were placed in Sanjenthong and near the Nupi Lan complex.

PM Modi is scheduled to address a public gathering at Kangla Fort, which he will reach via a 7-km route from Imphal airport. To prepare for the visit, temporary wooden barricades have been erected along the road, while workers carried out cleaning drives and repainted medians. The arrangements reflect both security measures and the ceremonial welcome planned for the Prime Minister.

"I will be attending programmes in Churachandpur and Imphal tomorrow, 13th September. We are fully committed to furthering inclusive and all-round development of Manipur. The foundation stone for road projects, National Highway projects, women hostels and more would be laid. The projects being inaugurated include the Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, the IT SEZ Building and the New Police Headquarters at Mantripukhri, a unique all-women's market in various districts," PM Modi said in a post on X.

"Over the next few days, on 13th, 14th and 15th September, I will be attending programmes in Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar which are aimed at boosting 'Ease of Living.' These projects will have a very positive impact on people's lives, especially towards boosting connectivity, job creation and more," he added.

"PM will be arriving in Manipur on September 13, 2025 from Aizawl. On his arrival at Churachandpur around 12.15 pm, he will first interact with some of the internally displaced persons in the district. He will lay the foundation stone of various infrastructure projects to be taken up throughout the state. The Prime Minister will address the public gathering at Peace Ground, Churachandpur. Thereafter, he will arrive at Kangla around 2.30 pm and first interact with some of the IDPs in the valley areas," Goel told reporters here.

"The Prime Minister will be inaugurating various development projects within and outside the state of Manipur. The prime minister will address the public gathering at Kangla. The total projects for which foundation stones are being put are totalling to Rs. 7,300 crore, and the projects which are being inaugurated are worth Rs. 1,200 crore. Such initiatives underscore the Prime Minister's continued commitment and dedication to the development and welfare of the state. Thus, I, on behalf of the Government of Manipur and the Government of India, request the people of Manipur to come forward in welcoming the Prime Minister to the state and participate in the programme in large numbers," he added.

The Prime Minister’s Office announced on Friday that PM Narendra Modi will visit five states—Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar—from September 13 to 15 (Saturday to Monday) to inaugurate and launch projects totaling Rs 71,850 crore.

As part of his vision for inclusive, sustainable, and holistic growth in Manipur, Modi will lay the foundation for development works worth over Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur. These include the Manipur Urban Roads, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project valued at more than Rs 3,600 crore; five National Highway projects costing over Rs 2,500 crore; the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project; and Working Women’s Hostels across nine locations, among others.
