PM Modi lauds Jan Dhan Yojana as it completes 10 years
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded people behind the success of Jan Dhan Yojana and stated that the scheme has been significant in improving the financial inclusion.
The Prime Minister said, "Today, we mark a momentous occasion - #10YearsOfJanDhan. Congratulations to all the beneficiaries and compliments to all those who worked to make this scheme a success."
He added that the Jan Dhan Yojana has been of great importance in augmenting financial inclusion and giving dignity to crore of people, especially women, youth and the marginalized communities.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched on this day in 2014 as a national mission for financial inclusion. It aims for universal access to banking with at least one basic account for every household and includes financial literacy, access to credit, insurance, and pension facilities.
The initiative seeks to bring about comprehensive financial inclusion for all households. The plan's core objective is to ensure every household has at least one basic banking account.
Financial literacy is a key component of the mission, along with access to credit and insurance. Pension facilities are also part of the Yojana, aiming to provide long-term financial security.
