“The previous session of

Parliament

had seen the passage of the historic GST. I had thanked all parties when the bill had been passed. In the national interest, it is important for us to have goos debates on various issues,” Modi said, minutes before the commencement of the Winter Session.

“In this Session as well, we will discuss important issues. We will discuss all issues. We will discuss the political positions of all the parties, and the issues they raise. We will make a full effort to move forward together, taking all parties along,” Modi added.

“We are prepared to discuss all issues the parties want to discuss. This will be an open debate as the deliberations have been open,” he said.

Opposition parties have held a series of meetings to calibrate their cooperation against the government’s demonetisation move in both the

Lok Sabha

and the

Rajya Sabha

. They are expected to take the battle to the government over the inconvenience caused to public in the form of long queues at banks and ATMs.
