The 57-year-old Karandlaje had replaced MP, D V Sadananda Gowda, as a BJP candidate in Bangalore North, a party stronghold for a long time.

Karandlaje's political journey has been marked by her dedication and commitment to public service. She has previously served as a member of the Karnataka legislative council and held the position of Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in the state government. Her experience and leadership skills have been instrumental in her success.

Karandlaje had won from Udupi-Chikmagalur seat twice -- in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
