WARANGAL: The surrender of Singu Chandrakala, alias Bharatakka, a district committee member of CPI-ML People’s War (PW) in this district, has ended the era of women leadership among the Naxals in northern Telangana region.
Bharatakka surrendered before the police in Hyderabad on Monday.
Bharatakka, wife of slain naxalite leader Polam Sudarshan Reddy alias RK, was the third woman to get the status of district committee membership in the erstwhile bastion of naxalites.

Prior to Bharatakka, the PW produced two female cadres in the region and both of them served as the district committee secretaries in their respective regions.
Nyalakonda Rajitha alias Padmakka, was the first woman cadre to get the status of district committee member (DCM) from Karimnagar. She spearheaded the west Karimnagar district committee of the PW till her encounter with the police in Karimnagar.
