Addressing a gathering at a seminar, Jaishankar said a "

global rebalancing

" is taking place and the "sharpest manifestation" of that is the rise of China and to an extent, the rise of India as well.

The former foreign secretary took part in the event days after taking charge of the ministry, a rare instance of a career diplomat handling the key portfolio as a minister.

"A large majority of people in India recognised that India's stature in the world has risen in the last five years," Jaishankar said.

He said the government has kept alive and perhaps even strengthened expectation of change in India.

The government looks different from outside than from inside, Jaishankar, who served as foreign secretary from 2015-18 said.

"We can build a closer region through regional connectivity projects," he added.

"If we want to propel economic growth, then there is greater responsibility for Indian foreign policy to focus on external aspect of it," the minister said.

It is most unfortunate that even qualified individuals have resorted to disinformation to carry water for the government, and this official is no exception. Let me jiggle this persons feigned ignorance. Ever since the infamous GDP manipulation was done by the government in 2015, it has still not been able to cover up its dubious tracks. According to the World GDP (PPP) rankings by the International Monetary Fund, India''s GDP was 8.7 in 2014, 6.0 in 2015, 6 in 2017 and 6.7 in 2018. India''s ranking was number 3 in 2014, and number 7 in 2018. The new GDP calculation does not match the high frequency economic indicators and I am providing 11 of those 15 indicators reported by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy, India Brand Equity Foundation, Budget documents and PIB Government data. These are as follows:Two wheeler sales- UPA 12.44% & NDA, Car sales-UPA 7.92% & NDA 4.42%. Tractor sales-UPA 15.73% & NDA 4.49%, Retail loan growth-UPA 22.47% & NDA 19.92%, Commercial vehicles sales-UPA 10.5% & NDA 9.74%, Cement production-UPA 7.05% & NDA 4.32%, Steel-UPA 7.18% & NDA 5.18%, Income tax growth-17.53% & NDA 16.85%, Corp tax- UPA 13.09% & NDA 11.20%, Household savings-UPA 13.79% & NDA 7.38%. In addition, India''s ranking in several areas has fallen with Rule of law to 88/190 countries, Global Hunger index to 103/119, Literacy rate to 168/234, Education index to 145/191, World happiness index to 133/155, Human development index to 130/188, Global gender gap to 108/144, Index of economic freedom to 129/178, Press freedom index to 140/180. All these rankings have fallen in the past five years. Mr. Jaishankar must know that there still are millions of Indians who cannot be fooled by his servile and sycophantic attempt at currying favor from this government which has literally usurped power through widespread rigging of votes with the collusion of the Election Commission. And with Amit Shah being inducted into 8 cabinet committees with the PM, namely the committees of Appointments, Accommodation, Economic affairs, Parliamentary affairs, Political affairs, Security, Investment and growth and Skills and growth. All appointments and promotions will now be directly under these two individuals and these will all be purely partisan without any form of opposition from any quarter. This is plain and unmitigated dictatorship and totalitarianism that is destructive for the constitution. My appeal to all citizens is to prevent this apocalyptic self-destruction of the country''s freedom and democracy for which we fought for almost one hundred years and in which neither the BJP nor its affiliates were part of in any way; and now they have wrestled power to their advantage but at the cost of India''s democratic demise. This must not be allowed at any cost. Save Mother India. Vande Mataram!
