Patna hospital murder: New footage shows gunmen celebrating on street after mafia-style ICU hitjob - Watch
NEW DELHI: A day after a shocking CCTV video captured a gang executing a patient inside Patna’s Paras Hospital, a fresh clip has surfaced showing the suspected killers fleeing and celebrating openly on the streets gun in hand.
The new footage, shared widely on social media, shows an empty road in Patna. Moments later, a motorbike appears carrying three men. The person seated in the middle, holding a firearm, raises his hand in what appears to be a celebratory gesture. Twenty-seven seconds later, a second bike with three more men rides past the same spot. The video has added to growing outrage over Bihar’s law and order situation, especially in light of the brazen daylight hospital killing.
The victim, 36-year-old Chandan Mishra a murder convict serving life at Beur Jail was on medical parole and receiving treatment at Paras Hospital when he was gunned down on Thursday morning. CCTV footage from the hospital showed five armed men walking calmly into the ICU, opening fire, and fleeing without any resistance.
“This is a very sad incident because it happened inside Paras, a hospital with its own security system. The criminals breached it completely and went inside,” Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar had said earlier, adding the security arrangements at the facility are now under review.
Police believe the murder was the result of a gang rivalry. “Chandan Mishra, resident of Buxar, was out on parole for medical treatment. The rival gang shot him. We are identifying members of the Chandan Sheru gang,” said Patna SSP Kartikay Sharma. Six suspects have reportedly been detained from Patna and Buxar.
The Congress shared the video on social media with the caption, “Bihar's 'Goon Rule'... Watch this video and understand how fearless criminals are in Bihar.” The party claimed 46 murders have occurred in the last 17 days.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav asked, “Is anyone safe in Bihar? Did such an incident happen before 2005?” He ridiculed Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha for boasting about cracking down on criminals while “they roam freely.”
Meanwhile, Independent MP Pappu Yadav, who was stopped from entering the hospital, claimed the shooting was caste-linked and demanded President’s Rule. “Nurses, doctors, no one is safe in Bihar… There is no such thing as administration,” he said.
