In the 2019 parliamentary elections, a staggering total of 1,807,043 electors were eligible to exercise their franchise, reflecting a significant increase from the 1,628,641 electors in 2014. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged triumphant in both elections, with Dabhi Bharatsinhji Shankarji clinching the MP seat in 2019, following the victory of Liladharbhai Khodaji Vaghela in 2014. The BJP's stronghold on the constituency was evident, albeit with notable shifts in vote counts and margins of victory.
In 2014, Liladharbhai Khodaji Vaghela secured a commanding victory, garnering 518,538 votes, while his Indian National Congress (INC) counterpart, Rathod Bhavsinhbhai Dahyabhai, trailed with 379,819 votes, resulting in a victory margin of 138,719 votes for the BJP.
Fast forward to 2019, the electoral dynamics witnessed a significant evolution. Dabhi Bharatsinhji Shankarji, the BJP candidate, emerged victorious with a formidable vote count of 633,368. Meanwhile, Jagdish Thakor from the INC garnered 439,489 votes, indicative of the enduring presence of both political parties in the region.
Despite the change in candidates, the BJP maintained its dominance in the constituency, securing a victory margin of 193,879 votes in 2019. This landslide victory reaffirmed the party's resonance with the electorate and its ability to secure a strong mandate from the people of Patan.
