Parliament Winter Session Highlights: Opposition submits no confidence motion against VP Dhankhar
On Monday, both houses of Parliament faced disruptions as BJP intensified its criticism of Congress regarding alleged connections with George Soros, whilst opposition members claimed that the government was deliberately hindering parliamentary proceedings.The lower house experienced three interruptions until 12 noon, 2 pm and 3 pm. The final session at 3 pm ended with continued disturbances, leading to adjournment for the remainder of the day.The upper house witnessed comparable disruptions, with BJP members consistently raising accusations against Congress, claiming its leadership collaborated with Soros to undermine national stability.Union Minister JP Nadda, the Leader of the House, reiterated party allegations that a senior Congress official "as the co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, is linked to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation" and that FDL-AP Foundation "has expressed views to treat Kashmir as a separate entity"He expressed concerns about the connection between Forum of Democratic Leaders in the Asia-Pacific (FDL-AP) and George Soros. He stated that Congress had become an instrument for forces seeking to destabilise the nation.Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge dismissed the accusations against Congress.During the commotion, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar requested Nadda and Kharge to meet in his chamber to resolve the deadlock. He announced another meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 10.30 am.The Chairman noted that the "functioning of the deep state has been noticed that it affects us more perniciously than COVID disease"."I had in my chamber a meeting between leader of the House and leader of the opposition. The purpose of that meeting was to ensure that the House runs smoothly."
