NEW DELHI: A committee is being set up to monitor full and effective implementation of Manisana Wage Board's recommendations for journalists and non-journalists of newspapers and news agencies.

new delhi: a committee is being set up to monitor full and effective implementation of manisana wage board's recommendations for journalists and non-journalists of newspapers and news agencies. the committee, to be set up by the government, will act as a nodal agency to ensure that tripartite committees are set up in all states and union territories and supervise and review their functioning to ensure proper implementation of the wage board recommendations, official sources said on friday.

they said the committee would identify the problems in implementation of the award, suggest measures and pursue the matter with state governments. the labour and employment advisor in the labour ministry will head the committee. the manisana wage board's recommendations were notified by the government in december last year and as per provisions of the working journalists and other newspaper employees (conditions of service) and miscellaneous provisions act, 1955, the responsibility of implementation lies with the states. the labour ministry has been impressing upon the state governments for speedy and effective implementation of the wage board award, the sources added.
