NEW DELHI: Drones from Pakistan have been spotted at 26 different locations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB), including several suspected armed drones, the ministry of defence said on Saturday.
The areas where drone sightings have occurred include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.
One armed drone reportedly targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, injuring members of a local family. The injured have received medical care, and the area has been sanitised by security forces.
According to defence sources, the Indian Army is retaliating strongly, especially opposite the Jammu sector, following the series of drone incursions and attacks allegedly carried out by the Pakistan Army.
The armed forces remain on high alert, using counter-drone systems to track and neutralise aerial threats. “The situation is being monitored continuously, and prompt action is being taken wherever necessary,” the defence ministry said in a statement.
Citizens living near the border have been advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary movement, and follow all safety advisories issued by local authorities. While officials have said there is no cause for panic, they have stressed the importance of vigilance.
