JAMMU: Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire agreement and fired on forward Indian posts along the
Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Sources said Pakistan troops resorted to small and medium arms firing on Indian posts in Pallanwala Sector of the district.
“There was firing by Pakistan Army on Indian forward posts in two areas along LoC in Jammu district from 5.20 pm,” Defence spokesman S N Acharya said.
Pakistani troops fired with small arms and medium machine guns in Ghakriyal and Lou-ki-han forward areas. Indian troops gave a “calibrated response” resulting in heavy exchanges that were going on when reports last came in from the area, he said.
There was no report of loss of life or injury.
This comes after sniper fire from across the border on an observation post in Jammu on Sunday in which a jawan narrowly escaped.
There have been over 90 ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops from January 1. Six jawans were killed and 13 people injured in ceasefire violations and firing by Pakistani troops in forward posts, civilian areas and patrol parties along the border in over a month.
