Our actions should reflect our Indian and Hindu identity: Bhaiyyaji Joshi
NAGPUR: The thoughts and action of the people should reflect they are Indians and Hindus in true sense. Unless this happens, their identity would be in threat, said RSS’ former sarkaryavah (general secretary) Bhaiyyaji Joshi.
He was addressing RSS volunteers at a flag hoisting function organized at the RSS’ Smruti Mandir campus, which houses the memorial of the organisation’s founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
“India was never against modernization, but at the same time, care should be taken that it does not lead to westernization of our culture. India has a distinct identity due to its value system and way of living. This very identity appears to be in threat nowadays. To counter this, people need to realise and act in a manner that reflects they are Indians and Hindus in a true sense,” said Joshi, who’s member of RSS national executive committee.
India has progressed and is leading in many sectors and people don’t need to go abroad for medical treatment, he said. “The best education is offered here. Our defence forces are strong and the country has premier institutions like ISRO,” he added. He also touched upon the events like the first war of independence in 1857, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s novel Anand Math, Swami Vivekanada’s speech at Chicago, Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s assertion of swarajya (self-rule) and Mahatma Gandhi’s involvement of masses in freedom struggle.
