Only three cops were guarding Dantewada jail
A preliminary report by Dantewada SP Rahul Sharma said the staff strength of the prison is 19, and only three guards were present to watch over 377 prisoners.
A preliminary report by Dantewada SP Rahul Sharma on Monday said the staff strength of the prison is 19, and only three guards were present to watch over 377 prisoners.
The Chhattisgarh government on Monday suspended DIG (prisons) P D Verma, while cops arrested Dantewada jailor V S Mankar for facilitating the escape of prisoners. Bastar range IG R K Vij said, "The jailer was arrested after sustained interrogation which suggested his links to some of the escaped inmates."
