On China plaint, Bangladesh to review maps of Indian territories
DHAKA: Bangladesh will review and take necessary measures after China raised objections to two textbooks and the map of Asia displayed on the department of survey's website, which showed Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of India.
The Chinese embassy in Dhaka had informed Bangladesh through a diplomatic note on Nov 28, 2024 about Beijing's objections to the map used in the textbooks, the inconsistency of data, and a boundary line mentioned in the Survey of Bangladesh.
Spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam told reporters that the foreign ministry has requested the authorities concerned to review the matter and take necessary measures.
China claims Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory, though these regions are internationally recognised as part of India.
Beijing further asserted thatthe textbooks and the survey department's website incorrectly portrayed Hong Kong and Taiwan as separate countries, rather than recognising them as part of China.
