Officials say no VVPAT anomaly found at 75 Nanded booths

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The district administration in Maharashtra's Nanded declared Sunday that no discrepancies were found between EVMs and voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips during a mandatory post-election verification conducted at 75 polling centres.

The announcement came amid opposition allegations that EVMs were manipulated to favour the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which secured a landslide victory in the recent assembly elections.

All nine assembly constituencies in Nanded went to the Mahayuti coalition of BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and NCP (Ajit Pawar). The opposition has questioned whether EVMs were tampered with to influence the results.

Nanded collector Abhijit Raut stressed the importance of the verification process in maintaining electoral integrity, calling it a "vital step in upholding electoral transparency and accuracy."
