BHUBANESWAR: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday appointed Odisha cadre IAS officer Rajesh Verma as the secretary to President Droupadi Murmu.
A graduate in electrical engineering, Verma is currently serving as the secretary of the Union ministry of corporate affairs. Verma, who hails from Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, will replace Kapil Dev Tripathi in his new assignment.
The 1987-batch IAS officer had proceeded for central deputation in July 2019. Before going to the Centre, Verma had served as the principal secretary to chief minister Naveen Patnaik for two years from January 2017.
During his stint with the state government, Verma had served in key departments like steel and mines, school and mass education, agriculture and energy.
