WASHINGTON: US president
Barack Obama has underlined his commitment to building a "true global, strategic partnership" with India at a key discussion in the White House where the American leader dropped in for a meeting with national security adviser Shivshankar Menon.
The US president dropped in for a meeting with Menon when the Indian NSA was meeting with his American counterpart Tom Donilon at the White House on Friday.
"The president joined the meeting and reaffirmed his commitment to building a true global, strategic partnership with India," the White House said in a statement on Saturday.
Obama is believed to have been present at the meeting for about 15 minutes during which he clearly indicated that he remains focused on strengthening the relationship between India and the US. "The president relayed his priorities for the coming year, including advancing our bilateral economic relationship and making progress on nuclear security efforts," the White House said.
