NSA advisor Doval makes a quiet trip to Chennai, calls on governor

National security adviser(NSA)Ajit Doval made a quiet visit to Chennai on Friday night, stayed at Raj Bhavan, and left the city the following day.

Multiple sources told the TOI that Doval met Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi at Raj Bhavan and the following morning proceeded to Kalpakkam, where the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) is located.

He returned to Chennai the same day and took a flight to Mumbai on Saturday evening.

In the meantime, the governor left for New Delhi on Sunday night and returned on Monday afternoon. Ravi’s visit to the national capital comes amidst an uproar over pending bills passed by the Tamil Nadu assembly. The governor left for Delhi on the eve of the Supreme Court hearing the state government’s petition against his “inaction and delay”.

An official, seeking anonymity, said: “The governor reached Tamil Nadu House in Delhi on Sunday evening and stayed overnight. He left for Chennai in the forenoon of Monday.”
