NEW DELHI: Former
Shiv Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar stirred controversy after a viral video showed him claiming he secures more funds for his constituency than the sitting legislator.
Sarvankar, according to news agency PTI, told a gathering, "the incumbent MLA gets Rs 2 crore, but even when I am not an MLA and I get Rs 20 crore."
When contacted, he clarified that he was referring to the funds he manages to bring into the Dadar-Mahim constituency, contrasting it with Sawant’s complaints of inadequate resources.
A key figure in the 2022 rebellion, Sarvankar was among the 39 MLAs who sided with
Eknath Shinde against then chief minister
Uddhav Thackeray.
Sarvankar, who heads the Siddhivinayak Trust, had lost the 2024 Maharashtra assembly election to Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Mahesh Sawant.
