Northeast governments condoles Ananth Kumar's demise

GUWAHATI: Governments across Northeast condoled the death of Union parliamentary affairs minister

, saying that his sudden demise at the age of 59 is a great loss to the nation.


Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi said Kumar was a popular leader in Indian public life. “Deeply grieved to learn the demise of Ananth Kumar. He was a prudent and popular leader in Indian public life. Ananth Kumar was a great asset for the country and his death is bound to create a void which will be hard to be filled”, Mukhi said.

Arunachal Pradesh

CM Pema Khandu said Kumar was an iconic leader. “Extremely pained to learn about the sudden and sad demise of iconic leader Union minister Ananth Kumar ji,” Khandu tweeted.

Meghalaya

CM, Conrad Sangma said Kumar was a great leader and wonderful human being.

“Extremely saddened by the d emise of Ananth Kumar. Had an opportunity to work with him along with my late father P A Sangma during the campaign for the presidential elections,” Sangma tweeted.

Chief ministers of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb also condoled Kumar’s death.

Nagaland deputy chief minister and leader of the BJP Legislature Party (BLP), Y Patton said that Kumar was one of the few ministers who have served in the earlier NDA government led by the late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

“The BLP Nagaland feels that his demise is not only a great loss for the citizens of Karnataka but for India as a whole. The BLP conveys heartfelt condolences to his entire bereaved family, friends, supporters and the denizens of Karnataka and extend our prayer support during this time of grief and sorrow,” Patton said.
