PATNA: Patna Police on Tuesday got non-bailable arrest warrant against RJD MLA and contesting candidate for the assembly election from Belaganj assembly constituency.
Patna Police on Sunday issued arrest for Surendra Prasad Yadav, finding the allegations prima facie true. Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav said, “City SP Chandan Kushawaha found the extortion case lodged against him prima facie true.
We have issued arrest order for him. Police have conducted raid at the residence of Surendra Prasad Yadav in Patna but he was not found there. Police have prayed for arrest warrant of him, and got non bailable arrest warrant against him from lower court in Patna.”
He added that the copy of the warrant has been sent to the Gaya SSP Manu Maharaaj for assistance in his arrest.
On October 2, an FIR was lodged with the SK Puri police station against the RJD sitting MLA from Belaganj in connection with an extortion case. He allegedly asked for extortion from a contractor Arun Kumar in connection with bidding participation of irrigation department, Gaya division.
Surendra Prasad Yadav has filed nomination from Bela constituency for this year also. Though in his affidavit, he declared some criminals cases like 341, 352, 427, 511/34 IPC and others. Earlier this year the enforcement directorate confiscated property worth around Rs 9.26 crore of Gaya hooch tragedy case accused Raj Kumar alias Mantu Yadav who is brother of the MLA. Mantu was the main accused in the hooch tragedy which took place in Gaya district that claimed at least 20 lives in 2012.
