MUMBAI: High-profile secretary to filmstars Rikku Rakesh Nath categorically denied on Tuesday that he was questioned by the Delhi Police for his alleged hawala links with underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim. A section of the media had reported that the star secretary was questioned by the special police cell at Lodhi Colony in New Delhi on August 1, on possible hawala links with the D-gang.

''I am surprised with this ridiculous news item,'' he told this newspaper on Tuesday. ''I don't know why my name has been dragged into the controversy. But I believe somebody is spreading rumours to malign my name,'' he said. According to Rikku, he hasn't even been to Delhi in the recent past. ''I haven't been called for questioning, but if and when I am called by the police, I will definitely cooperate with them,'' he said. He said he has never had any dealings with the underworld. ''Except when I have had to field calls on my clients' behalf from people claiming to be gangsters, he said. Rikku, however, refused to say which of his clients had received threatening calls from the underworld. Rikku represents a host of showbiz personalities including Adnan Sami, Amisha Patel, Namrata Shirodkar and Madhuri Dixit.
