‘No Bangladeshi will dare come to Parbhani’: Owaisi slams BJP over border, intelligence claims
NEW DELHI: Taking a sharp swipe at the BJP-led central government, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday dismissed allegations of illegal Bangladeshi presence in Maharashtra and accused the Centre of ignoring growing security concerns along the eastern border.
Addressing a public gathering in Parbhani, Owaisi said, “They (the BJP government) have the BSF and intelligence agencies, but still claim that Bangladeshis have reached here. No Bangladeshi will even dare to come to Parbhani.”
His comments come in response to repeated claims from BJP leaders that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have infiltrated various parts of India, including Maharashtra.
Owaisi also raised alarm over Bangladesh’s recent military posture, accusing the Modi government of complacency. “Since Muhammad Yunus came to power in Bangladesh, they have started conducting military exercises with Pakistan,” he said. “Bangladesh is now building an airbase near the India border, but the BJP is not worried about it.”
The Hyderabad MP’s remarks stirred political chatter, as he linked regional geopolitics with national security, alleging that the government is focusing on divisive rhetoric rather than real threats.
Asaduddin Owaisi and his party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), have been increasingly active in Maharashtra, often targeting both BJP and Congress on issues related to minority rights, governance, and national security.
There has been no official response yet from the BJP to Owaisi’s statements.
