NEW DELHI: The roof of a room at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah, near Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi’s
Nizamuddin area, collapsed on Friday.
Five were reported dead, Delhi Police said. At least 12 were injured as a portion of the structure gave way.
NDRF personnel are conducting a search operation, with Police and Fire Department teams also present. So far, 11 people have been rescued from the site.
"Eleven people have been rescued from the site of the incident and taken to a nearby hospital. The search operation is still underway," the Delhi police said.
The site was cordoned off to ensure safety and to facilitate rescue efforts. The area around the dargah remained sealed off as engineers and investigators examined the scene.
