Nitish Kumar to tell INDIA allies to work fast, finalise future strategies and do not delay further
PATNA: While asserting that he would attend the next meeting of INDIA bloc, to be held in Delhi in third week of December; Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said he would tell all allies of the opposition alliance to hold quick meetings and act swiftly to finalise its future strategies, otherwise it would be late (for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls).
“Why will I not go to attend the opposition bloc meeting? Is it possible that an opposition bloc meeting is held, and I am not there? … I want all the (opposition) parties to sit together and work fast... During the next meeting, I will tell all of them to hold discussion and act swiftly to finalise future strategies, otherwise it will be late (for the Lok Sabha polls). I will ask them not to delay further. You all know I have been trying for the last one year to unite all of them,” Nitish said while responding to the media query here.
The JD(U) leader also reiterated that he had no desire for any post in the INDIA alliance and he just wanted to unite the opposition parties in the interest of the country.
The Bihar CM also said, “I want that the people who are trying to distort the history of the country, would not be able to do so. For this purpose, I want that all the parties which are together in the opposition alliance, proceed forward unitedly.”
To a question, the CM admitted that he would share dais with the Union home minister Amit Shah at the east zonal council meeting scheduled to be held in Patna on December 10. This time, Bihar is hosting the east zonal council meeting. The chief ministers of all member states attend the zonal council meeting which is traditionally chaired by the Union home minister.
On being asked whether he would attend the meeting with Shah, Nitish said, “Woh toh parampara hai, usme kya dikkat hai? (It is a tradition. There is no problem in attending this meeting (with Shah).”
To a query on the recent assembly polls results, Nitish tried to downplay BJP’s victory in three states in the Hindi heartland, saying that “there is no need to discuss much on such victory of the saffron party. “The Congress has performed well in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. These things (victory and defeat) happen in electoral politics. Earlier, there were Congress governments in these states. This time, the BJP has won. There is no need to discuss much on such issues. The Congress has won one state (Telangana) this time.” he said.
