NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain the bail plea of Vikas Yadav, the main accused in the Nitish Katara murder case and asked him to produce the witnesses in his defence without delay so that the trial could be concluded within two weeks.
"You present your witnesses (defence) expeditiously," a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said when it was brought to its notice that the Delhi High Court has already fixed a time-frame of September 20 to complete the examination of the defence witnesses.

After this observation, senior advocate K T S Tulsi, appearing for the accused, prefer to withdraw the petition.
However, during the hearing, he accused the prosecution of delaying the trial by filing an application before the High Court for recalling some prosecution witnesses.
Vikas, who sought bail on health ground claiming that he was suffering from tuberculosis, contended that there was zero evidence against him.
"Let the trial court consider his bail application in the light of the evidence which has come so far and his medical condition," Tulsi submitted.
He even said that the complainant in the case will derive sadistic pleasure by keeping the accused in the jail.
However, this submission was objected by advocate Kamini Jaiswal, appearing for the victim's mother Neelam Katara.
Vikas and Vishal Yadav, son and nephew of controversial Uttar Pradesh politician D P Yadav, are facing trial in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Katara from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on February 17-18, 2002.
