NIA searches Maoist ‘front outfits’, activists in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: As part of the probe into the alleged Munchingput Maoist conspiracy case, the NIA on Wednesday conducted

searches

at seven locations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Searches were conducted on alleged front organisations, rights activists and Maoist sympathisersin Hyderabad in Telangana and Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Kurnool, Kadapa and Prakasam in Andhra Pradesh.


On November 23 last year, Munchingput police (Visakhapatnam Rural in AP) had intercepted one Pangi Naganna who was travelling on his bike towards Basuput. They had accused him of working for Maoist Andhra-Odisha Border special zonal committee.

On interrogation, Naganna had reportedly confessed that he had been working as a journalist and passing on information about police movement to Maoists.
