NHAI officials among 22 booked by CBI for graft

NEW DELHI: CBI has filed an FIR against some officials of

National Highway Authority

of India (NHAI) for allegedly accepting bribes from a consortium of companies which won contract for construction of highway projects during 2008-10. The agency has booked 22 individuals, including

NHAI

officials and entities which were involved in highway construction.

Case has been registered under sections of falsification of records, corruption and criminal conspiracy. During investigation, CBI has found several lapses which point to corruption.

The agency had initiated a preliminary enquiry into the case in 2018. The probe gained momentum last month and multiple raids were conducted in the last one week in

Dehradun

and other

places

, sources said.
